Continuing along the early transport theme he subsequently began to produce paintings of the land and speed record endeavours of Malcolm and Donald Campbell, which captivated him. Once pulled towards a subject Peter went to great lengths to be true to his subjects and to this end, for these paintings, he visited Coniston Water and met with Gina Campbell, the daughter of Donald. This not only satiated his own interest but also aided him in evoking the scene and excitement of the times.
